Scout DV Series
With the Scout DV series of 4G commercial grade dash cams, GPS Commander’s mobile video solutions are transforming organizations. With both cloud and enterprise versions available, Scout DV systems give peace of mind by reducing liability, insurance and vehicle operating costs. At the same time, Scout DV dash cam systems increase the safety of your drivers.
GPS Commander provides a broad range of mobile dash cams to meet the needs of most organizations. Scout VT systems typically pay for themselves quickly by way of reduced insurance premiums and vehicle operating costs. These savings come as a direct result of improvements in driver safety, accident reduction and reduced vehicle maintenance costs. GPS Commander dash cams are set up to capture 100% of the view from each camera, the entire time the vehicle is in operation. This assures management that incidences that occurred in the past, are still available for review, well after the fact. The amount of storage capability required on the device is determined by the quality of the video, the number of cameras on board and the length of the history desired. Typically, GPS Commander configures systems to store about 1 month of complete driving history on the vehicle, that can be downloaded and viewed in high definition at anytime. This information cannot be accessed by the driver but is available for review by a supervisor. On all models, historical information that is stored on the SD cards can be readily viewed or downloaded through a direct connection via USB cable.
In addition to accessing all of the video, sound and pictures stored on-board the mobile dash camera system via a direct connection, some models include an on-board WiFi capability that allows for the automatic remote download of stored information, when the vehicle enters WiFi coverage. With a WiFi connected system, the customer can set rules that will cause snapshots or video with sound to be marked, streamed or downloaded automatically under certain conditions. For example, the system could download a snapshot or 5 seconds of video from a certain camera each time the driver speeds, drives erratically or an input is detected. Models with WiFi can also facilitate video viewing right from an included smartphone app.
With a 4G connected dash cam system, a supervisor or dispatcher can watch live video, in the heat of the moment, in real time. 4G connected systems can act as live GPS tracking devices, eliminating the need for a separate tracking unit. GPS Commander mobile video systems include the ability to track a variety of sensors and events, including harsh driving, speeding, crashes, extended engine idling, entry or exit of a geo-fence and so forth. Any of these pre-defined events can be used to trigger a notification via email, sms, pop-up browser notification, or push notification to an app. In addition, any of these events could also or cause the system to download sound, snapshots or video via cellular data for live viewing or off-vehicle storage.

Scout VT Dash Cams combine the benefits of real-time GPS tracking with mobile video recording to provide a complete cloud-based telematics solution. Fleets with these capabilities achieve immediate measurable improvements in field workforce efficiency. Scout VT opens a window to dispatchers and supervisors, empowering them to make faster, more informed decisions. Not only do they know where resources are located, but gain valuable situational awareness.
Vehicles operating in the field, together with the employees that utilize them often constitute one of the largest cost inputs for service organizations. In many markets, containing fleet operating costs is a key to achieving profitability. Connected dash cams can be a powerful tool in containing or reducing such costs. These devices not only provide real-time monitoring of the fleet, but encourage ‘self management’ by the drivers. This is accomplished in several ways:
Regardless of the nature of your business, its probably safe to say that delivering exceptional service to your customers is important to your success. At the end of the day, we’re all really in the service business. To that end, knowing the facts on the ground as it relates to our field personnel, vehicles and equipment can make the difference between promising and actually delivering quality service. Video enabled telematics empowers your business to deliver service in an informed way:
Mobile video telematics have an immediate, measurable positive impact on driver safety. When we combine the ability to measure harsh driving with the driver’s awareness that his or her every move is being documented on both video and audio, the results are impressive. Of course, anything we do that protects our employees’ safety is a net positive. However, these increases in driver safety result in measurable costs benefits as well, due declining wear and tear, fuel consumption, accident and insurance rates.
